Google: Embrace, Extend, Extinguish

Google is still clinging to a tattered façade of being the good guys, but you don't have to look very far behind it these days to see that they're running the same scams out of the same playbook that Microsoft used to use when they had an OS monopoly.

On RSS: On Instant Messaging: If you "upgrade" to Google Hangouts, all your connections to XMPP users in other domains just silently stop working. You can still try to send each other messages, and Google will helpfully drop them on the floor. Thanks, Google!
